East Village Community Action Network"Creating a Community Through Solidarity" Our Vision: To uphold the Centre City vision, and collaborate with all neighborhood organizations to establish, promote, and maintain a cohesive public/private network that assures the quality of life for the East Village neighborhood. Our History:
East Village Community Action Network was founded in 1997, by Bob McElroy and Robert Ito. The group was originally named the East Village Citizen's Patrol and focused mainly on community cleanup and homeless reachout. The group stayed very proactive in identifying neighborhood issues and finding vehicles to fix those issues. Today EVCAN has evolved, but works to convey the same message: To uphold the Centre city vision and collaborate with all organizations to assure a strong quality of life throughout East Village. We work to stay proactive and work closely with city organizations in order to stay informed and, in turn, empower our community.
